Used Car Review: Bentley Continental GT

As a favorite of rappers, superstar athletes, million- and billionaires, the Bentley Continental GT has something for everyone. Available in a 2 door, 4 seat coupe it originally went on sale back in 2003 and was sold out for the next 2 years. This car really put Bentley back on the map, especially since their fleet of mulsanne motor vehicles were aging. Of things to note, is that the GT was available with 2 different engine configurations, you wither had the V8 producing 500bhp, or the W12 producing 600bhp. Needles to say, both had their fair share of power, and both drunk like a Scotsman on Friday night!

However, 10 years down the track… these cars have held up nicely. The original styling can still be seen in the latest version of the GT, and the electronics have not aged or suffered as much as those of competing manufactures’. Although, in saying that, the infotainment system is terrible by todays standards, and the lack of Bluetooth may be troublesome for some. However, as these cars are rarely sold with more than 50,000kmh on the clock, they are in perfect condition and are unlikely to disappoint.

A few things to note before purchase, is the timing of the gear changes. The original GT suffered an issue where under extreme load, the mechatronics unit was unable to select the correct gear. If you are driving a car with this issue, bear in mind that if one of the 2 clutches have worn, you could be in for a hefty bill. Nonetheless, they are fantastic car for both driver and passenger, and over the years has not lost any of its original character.
